WHAT:

The Site Coordinator’s responsibilities include but are not limited to the coordination of an A+ After-School Program and Holiday Care Programs.

WHO:

Responsible for all staff, children, and the operations of the site program.

WHY:     Kama‘aina Kids is a private, non-profit, multi-service organization dedicated to serving children and their families through quality childcare programs.

Position Summary:

  • To study, analyze, and become thoroughly familiar with all aspects of the after-school program and develop specific program objectives including process and outcome objectives and related criteria for program achievement.
  • To plan a program of after-school services and activities for the site.
  • To establish contacts within the community, particularly as they relate to program articulation and promotion in order that maximum community involvement/awareness can be achieved and maintained.
  • To assist with recruitment, screening & interviewing of applicants for Group Leader positions.
  • To provide overall supervision, direction, and guidance of the after-school staff.
  • To establish, manage, and operate the after-school services educational component and other program activities.
  • Coordinate after-school services and activities with appropriate DOE school and district personnel, and complex supervisor (regarding facilities, security, equipment, supplies, materials, food services, telephone, time schedules, etc.)
  • Initiate appropriate fiscal and personnel transactions in keeping with approved plans and established procedures.
  • Establish and maintain personal information and record file for each participating student.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment and administer appropriate disciplinary procedures.
  • Coordinate and manage staff training and orientation activities at the site for all subordinate staff and community resource personnel servicing after-school students.
  • Manage and prepare appropriate data collection, record-keeping, and reporting functions of the program.
  • Write up and distribute a monthly site newsletter for parents and contribute to Kama’aina Kids’ bulletin when requested.
  • Maintain an effective communication system with school personnel, subordinate staff, parents, prospective and participating students, District Director, appropriate DOE offices, etc. so that appropriate and vital information will be dispersed in a timely fashion.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience -

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a major in education or related field AND /OR a minimum of three years of progressively responsible work experience in educating students.

Knowledge of -

  • School Management System
  • Supervision and Management
  • Public Relations and Budget Preparation
  • Staff Development and Training

Skills/Abilities -

  • Plan, organize, coordinate, implement and promote after-school program and activities
  • Develop, supervise, and train subordinate
  • Formulate policies and procedures
  • Issue oral and written instructions and directives and ensure that they are carried out properly
  • Obtain and evaluate facts
  • Keep records, write clear and concise reports
  • Deal effectively with the public, cooperating agencies, subordinate employees, students demonstrate qualities of leadership
  • Organize and instruct groups of children
  • Inspire confidence and enthusiasm of groups and individuals and encourage them in group participation
