Position Overview
A Group Leader will work independently under the management of the Site Coordinator. A Group Leader will be responsible for supervising a group of up to 6 children, ages 5 – 12 years old. The Group Leader will lead children in the scheduled daily activities, while helping children gain a deeper understanding of Hawai`i’s culture, history, environment and traditions.
General Responsibilities
General responsibilities include – implementing childcare activities for children ages 5 – 12 years; striving to make activities meaningful and enjoyable; ensuring the completion of scheduled activities; setting and meeting time constraints; ensuring the safety and well-being of all group members, while helping children create lasting memories.
Additional responsibilities include –relating joyfully and sensitively to children; greeting parents cheerfully and respectfully; addressing children individually and warmly; communicating with children and parents; cooperating and communicating with hotel personnel; organizing, prepping activities, and promoting our program on days without kids; and cleaning and maintaining the facility and equipment used.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must have experience in working with children
- Must clear a local and national criminal background check
- Must have, or be able to obtain, First Aid/CPR certification and lifeguarding
- Must be dependable
- Must have ability to implement daily activities in a fun, enthusiastic manner
- Must attend training classes and meetings, as required by the hotel and Kama`aina Kids
- Must be positive, energetic, patient, professional
- Japanese speakers preferred
