We're currently seeking preschool teachers who share our passion for working with children and making a positive impact in their lives. QUALIFICATIONS:

For Teachers:
A combination of experience and education/training is required. Teacher qualified applicants may have:

  • a CDA* (Child Development Associate) or
  • a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or a related field or
  • 60 credits in a degree program with 16 credits in early childhood education

And 6-12 months of work experience in a licensed childcare program.

 

Interested in teaching Infants and Toddlers? That's a "Caregiver"!

Qualifications For Caregivers:
A combination of experience and training is required. Caregiver applicants may have:

  • A H.S. Diploma or equivalent
  • 12 College Credits in Early Childhood OR 30 hours of Infant/Toddler Development Training*
  • 12-36 months of experience in a licensed childcare program with children under 36 months

*If you don't quite meet these requirements, don't fret! Kama'aina Kids can help you qualify for a Teacher role if you're interested & committed to personal growth. (Obtain your CDA and/or required training with us!)

 

A typical “day in the life” of a Preschool Teacher might look like this:

  • Greeting the children and families as they arrive/leave for the day.
  • Introducing a thematic circle time lesson, which often includes fingerplays, songs & reading stories.
  • Implementing fun, hands-on STEAM activities (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) from our research-based curriculum or your own imagination!
  • Encouraging physical activity while exploring the outdoors with the children.
  • Engaging a small group of children in an interesting activity during child-centered play time.
  • Helping children develop social-emotional skills by teaching them how to interact with others, resolve conflicts, and follow directions.
  • Enjoying a relaxed meal with the children after an adventurous morning of learning experiences.
  • Ensuring that all children are safe, comfortable, secure and well-cared for.
  • Communicating with families about the children’s experiences that day.
  • Monitoring and noting children’s development on learning assessment/portfolios.
  • Setting up the classroom for the next day of activities.
  • Going home with the satisfaction of knowing you made a difference!
